What Is a School Site Council?

1. The School Site Council decides upon academic instructional programs and all related categorical resource expenditures for a school.
2. A School Site Council is a school-community representative body made up of the principal, teachers, other school personnel, and parents.
3. All schools that receive federal or state categorical funding are required to have a School Site Council to decide how to spend funds.

What Does a School Site Council Do?

1. Develops and approves the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)
   1. Sets and/or reviews school goals and selects specific improvements
   2. Establishes budgets based upon the School Site Plan
   3. Recommends and submits site plan to the Board of Education for approval
2. Reviews and modifies the School Site Plan
3. Encourages parent, family, and community involvement
